EVENTS

RRAA participate in events such as Monthly Meetings, Field Days, Honey Shows, and Conventions.

Monthly Meetings

Our Bee Club hosts meetings the second Tuesday evening of most months. Typically, we meet at 7:30p.m. in the Basement Meeting Room, (right hand stairs downwards after entering at the Nairn Ave entrance doors, of the Elmwood Legion located at 920 Mairn Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. (A few blocks West of corner Nairn and Lagimodiere).

Meeting topics vary widely and provide information on keeping bees healthy, getting ready for winter, marketing honey, etc. For monthly topics, see the Meeting Topic page.

Field Day Tours

RRAA members, and beekeeping guests, usually have a Field Day (Tour of a beekeeping or industry site, then a picnic) during June.

If you enjoy the outdoors, socializing with others having the same interest as you do, and finding out how others manage their beekeeping operations, a tour may be just for you.

Past tours have been conducted in Brandon, Pinawa, Portage la Prairie, Stonewall, Steinbach, Fisher Branch, Ethelbert, Gladstone and Winnipeg.

Recently, Field Days have been at U of M Apiary site, Winnipeg, a commercial operation near Fisher Branch, and a tour of new facilities of French Bee Farm, Notre Dame de Lourdes. Check other Event pages for specifics and timing of our next event.

Honey Show

RRAA members also organize and present the annual and colourful, Manitoba Honey Show.

The Honey Show is usually held each fall, at The Forks Market in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, during September or October. The next show is planned so check out the Honey Show web page for specific timing and dates.

The show, is a consumer focused educational and promotional event presented on behalf of the Manitoba Beekeepers’ Association. The three main elements of the show are a Honey Competition, an Industry Display, and a Hive Product Sales area. You are welcome to stop by, meet with honey producers, and take part in the demonstrations and events, or purchase floral specific honey as a special taste treat.

Convention/Symposium

Members of RRAA, along with other interested individuals, may attend the yearly Manitoba Beekeepers'  convention/symposium. The provincial beekeepers association hosts a series of educational, research, and informative sessions for all of Manitoba's beekeepers. The event, usually in the Spring of each year, is typically held in either Brandon or Winnipeg.

For example, the 2015 Symposium, February 27-28, Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park, Winnipeg, the 2010 Symposium at Canad Inns-Brandon, and 2009 Symposium was in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. See www.manitobabee.org bulliten or event section for registration details and costs.

Also visit the Symposium page for agenda, location and timing of our next workshop event.
